Simple vacations are my favorite. I like them easy to get to, affordable, and not so much work while I’m away, please. So, a drive to the beach and a weekly rental can really satisfy. I’m happy to cook simple meals in order to keep costs down. When the kids were young, eating in was often easier than dining out.
One summer, while spending a week in a brand new condo in Bethany, I took notice of how much simpler it was to fix dinner when the only supplies in the kitchen were just exactly what was needed to prepare a meal. When I reached for a bowl, I lifted only a bowl with no other weight or items to manage. I enjoyed the same ease when pulling out a fry pan. There weren’t several other pans nested on top.
When I got home, I took my kitchen organization to a whole new level. I aggressively thinned my cabinets to vacation-style living. The refrigerator and pantry received the same less-is-more treatment. Even tableware and decor were purged to reveal only the needed and enjoyed.
I apply these same principles to my Staging Services. When a buyer walks through a home, they are dreaming of better living. So why not use the vacation model to prepare a home for sale?
It can be difficult for a home-owner to be objective about their own belongings or to best know how to bring attention to the special-features of the home. But a great way to get started preparing a home for sale is ask, what would I need to make this a vacation home? Then keep those items and pack up the rest. With fewer things to manage, showing your home will be simpler too!
